The Peer Group

The Peer Group, Southwark St, London SE1 1TY

Standing adjacent to the renowned Borough Market, The Hop Exchange is a striking and versatile venue for corporate and private events. A stone’s throw from London Bridge mainline and underground stations, the central feature of the building is the elegant Atrium.

We are responsible for all serviced offices and common parts and by working with the site management, also cover all of the activity that this magnificent setting is used for, such as product launches, exhibitions and fashion shows.

Outside of the out of hours attendance for the regular daily cleaning, we also provide day staff to maintain the cleaning levels and assist with the preparation and clearing up of all events.

There is a very high end selection of tenants on site, such as Credit Lyonnais, Financial Times, Goldman Sachs & Nomura and they expect and receive the highest standard of cleaning from our team.

This site is owned by The Peer Group, who we also work with in Newcastle, where we provide cleaning and security to the Eldon Garden Shopping Centre.

IMG Media

IMG Media, Chiswick, London W3 2TH

Optim/BBCS first started working with IMG Media in 2008 where we provided cleaning and associated services to their Head Quarter buildings in Chiswick. This year the cleaning contract went out to tender due to the relocation of their offices to Uxbridge. We retained the contract through a successful tender process and have been working hard over the last few months to assist with the phased transfer of staff, cleaning at both the old and new Head Quarters.

We provide daily premises cleaning, specialist cleaning of gym, showers and catering areas, window cleaning and washroom services. The cleaning consists of a large team of cleaning staff including weekend cover. The building fabric consists of a lot of glass and therefore the window cleaning is a large element of the contract and requires high quality and expert cleaning. We provide consumables and housekeeping services each day of the week.

Regular formal audits are carried out, which require client sign-off and the performance and on-going improvement strategies are also discussed.

Royal Holloway University

Royal Holloway University of London, Egham, Surrey, TW20 0EX

We have worked with the university since 2011 and are responsible for all of the accommodation cleaning, both in and out term time.

It is due to this fact that over and above our term time cleaning of all the University accommodation, our non-term time cleaning is equally important as the accommodation is transformed into a fully working hotel and conference center. Due to its location just outside of Windsor, the rooms are utilized by many visitors to events such as Royal Ascot, Henley Royal Regatta and The Cartier Polo Match as well as private functions such as weddings.

The rooms vary in size and shape and include for singles, double, executive rooms and suites. Most rooms have en-suite facilities and all are kept to a ‘hotel standard’. In addition, there are also many apartments on-site which also require housekeeping services.

As the site is run as a hotel, it is subject to all the typical roles, duties and services that any hotel would require and as such we provide housekeeping (room cleaning), public area cleaning, porterage duties, evening turndown services and linen duties.

Due to the size and scale of the accommodation we employ a large team on-site in order to cope with the varying occupancy levels and the Head Housekeeper maintains a close relationship with the Universities own Accommodations Manager and Conference Centre Manager.

JOhn Madjeski Academy

John Madjeski Academy, Reading, Berkshire, RG2 8AF

Overview

The John Madejski Academy in Reading provides high quality education for hundreds of students. As a specialist Sports Academy, they have some of the best sports facilities in the area and are committed to identifying and nurturing every student’s talents.

Action

The current cleaning team comprises a number of long-standing staff all of whom know the academy extremely well having transferred from the academy’s own employment. The general standard of cleaning across the academy were poor and as such it was our primary aim to improve standards and to ensure staff could be made more efficient through working to an improved structure using new equipment, better processes and new cleaning methodologies. We delivered training in COSHH (Care of Substances Hazardous to Health) and ensured that staff fully understood the need to using certain equipment for certain areas.

Result

Through the application of new equipment, better cleaning methodology, on-going training and support and clear structure the academy has seen a huge improvement since our involvement. Standards have dramatically improved and staff are motivated and take ownership of the roles they carry out. As testament to our relationship we have recently been approached by the BBC via the John Madejski Academy to participate in a television documentary where we help introduce children into the working environment by allowing them to trial different job roles. As such a number of students will be acting as cleaning operatives and also managerial positions to understand how the industry works.
